What’s included in an Over 50s Insurance-backed Funeral Plan

Every funeral plan should cover the full cost of providing the service that is promised. Your Pure Cremation Funeral Plan includes everything that's required to carry out a Pure Cremation, delivered by Pure Cremation Ltd.

Collection of the deceased from any hospital, public mortuary, care home, or residential address in mainland England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (includes the Isle of Wight and Isle of Skye)

Dignified care of the body at our state-of-the-art client care facility until the cremation

Doctor’s fees where required

Cremation fees for an unattended committal at Charlton Park Crematorium or another carefully selected venue that we choose

A solid pine eco-coffin (or suitable alternative)

Transfer to the crematorium

Personal hand delivery of the ashes by Pure Cremation staff to any mainland address within England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (includes the Isle of Wight and Isle of Skye) or the option to scatter them in the Garden of Remembrance

Unlimited updates for life with no extra charges

Optional services that your family may wish to add

Each funeral plan includes everything needed for a simple unattended cremation, but on rare occasions families ask for the urgent return of ashes or to be present at the crematorium, and these optional services can be arranged by Pure Cremation Ltd.

Even though there is no formal service, you can arrange a private farewell at one of the crematorium venues we use, accompanied by your choice of music.

We want to emphasise that a Pure Cremation is a distinctive service, not a cheap funeral, so there are some restrictions:

  • A maximum of 12 people may attend
  • A service time of 20 minutes
  • Celebrants are not permitted

Charlton Park Crematorium in Hampshire offers times to suit you, including evenings and weekends - for an extra £250.

Committals at other venues are only available 9am Mon – Fri - for an extra £400.

Price correct at July 2022

Return of ashes within 21 days of the cremation is INCLUDED in our price, but please let us know if you have planned a scattering or memorial service sooner than this.

You can specify a day and time for the return of your loved-one’s ashes, including evenings and weekends for an additional fee of

£150

Price correct at July 2022

Families can arrange to collect ashes from the crematorium. There is no charge for this.

Please note that we cannot offer this service for ashes crossing the the England, Scotland and Northern Ireland borders.

Important Information

This plan is for people aged 50-74

Monthly premium based on age (i.e. lowest cost at age 50)

If you change your mind within 24 months of purchase you will get a 100% refund of monies paid, but cancellation after 24 months will result in no refund

If you die as a result of an Accidental Death within 24 months from the start date of your plan and your monthly payments are up to date, there won’t be any more to pay. If you die within 24 months from the start date of the plan and your death was not an Accidental Death, your estate will have a choice of either a full refund of all monthly payments paid or alternatively to pay the difference of a Pure Cremation at the time

Monthly payments continue to be made until your 90th birthday or the date of your death. Whichever is earlier

You're only fully covered after 24 months from the start date

Depending on how long you live, the total payments that you make could exceed the cost of your Pure Cremation

Your plan is at risk if you do not keep up with regular payments

There is no cash value to this plan as it is designed to deliver a Pure Cremation

Your monthly payments are used to purchase a whole of life insurance policy for your benefit with Scottish Friendly Assurance Society. To cover the cost of marketing and for setting up and administering your funeral plan, Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Limited will retain an amount between £2 and £6 from your monthly premium as well as receiving a sales commission between £198.48 and £363.60 from Scottish Friendly Assurance Society. The actual amount in both cases will depend on your age. For more information click here

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

This is an additional option available for people aged 50-74. Instead of paying a lump sum or larger monthly instalments for a fixed period, you pay less each month using an insurance policy to be purchased for you. Whilst you pay less each month, depending upon when you die, you may pay more overall. Cover does not start for 24 months, but if you die within 24 months from the day you purchased your plan, we refund all of your payments.

We protect your money in a number of ways, depending on the type of funeral plan you have purchased:

Over 50s Insurance-backed Funeral Plan

When you buy an Over 50s Insurance-backed Funeral Plan from Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Ltd we purchase a ‘whole of life’ policy from Scottish Friendly, one of the largest mutual life companies in the UK and they have been around since 1862.

Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Ltd is the beneficiary of the policy and will use the funds to carry out your wishes.

We’re very proud to say that your plan will pay for your Pure Cremation when the time comes with no hidden costs, so long as you have paid a lump sum payment. If you are paying by instalment then it will pay for your Pure Cremation once you have made 24 months payments or if death is accidental sooner than that.

And you don't need to worry about any increases in cremation fees or the cost of the doctor's certificates – we’ll take care of everything.

If your family wishes to arrange an attended committal or chooses priority return of ashes these can be requested and paid for at time of need.

In the unlikely event Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Limited were to go out of business, there are arrangements in place that make it likely your funeral plan contract will continue to be provided by a new firm whilst keeping the terms and service that were agreed.

Scottish Friendly, the firm that provides the insurance that backs your funeral plan, will work with whoever is appointed to run the business thereafter to ensure your plan is maintained and delivered.

You should be aware that in the event that your funeral plan could not continue to be carried out by Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Limited or the new provider identified, your funeral plan would cease although your insurance policy would remain in force. You may however incur additional costs in making new arrangements to use this policy with a new provider.

Yes, but we suggest that you let them know as they could go and buy one for themselves if they don’t know they already have a plan. Many people make arrangements on behalf of their parents or partners. When buying a plan, you will need to specify who the plan is for, and it is best to list yourself as the representative for that plan.
